Dortmund dream, Man City nightmare - Arsenal best and worst case Champions League draw

Arsenal are set to find out their opponents in the Champions League quarter-finals on Friday afternoon.

The Gunners booked their place in the competition's last eight for the first time in 14 years with a penalty shootout victory over Porto on Tuesday night. Despite making hard work of what looked, on paper, to be a favourable draw Mikel Arteta's side remain among the favourites for the competition, although the Spaniard isn't getting carried away just yet.

«I think it’s still very far,» he said when asked if he could think about winning the Champions League in his post-match press conference on Tuesday. «Now I’m gonna sit at home, I’m gonna look at the other teams we have to play and start another big mountain to climb.»

It all depends on the draw however. Seeding is out of the window at this stage of the competition, meaning anyone could play anyone at this point. This could be very beneficial for Arsenal, but it could also leave them vulnerable too.

It's probably not too much of a stretch to say that a nightmare scenario would see Arsenal face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals. City are the competition's reigning champions and probably the best team in it again this season. To add to matters, this season's title race would put even more pressure on this all-English clash, and it's one the Gunners will want to avoid if possible.
