Arsenal have been told they need to sign a striker who can score 30 goals a season if they are to improve on last season's success. Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun are the current options up front for Mikel Arteta.
Jesus is currently sidelined after undergoing a minor knee procedure following an injury picked up in pre-season. He is yet to feature for the Gunners this season but is expected to come back in the next couple of weeks.Balogun is not in Arteta's plans this season and football.london understands several sides in the Premier League and abroad are interested in the USMNT star.
Arsenal have already turned down a bid for Balogun from Monaco this summer which is understood to have totalled around £34.2million. Balogun, who scored 22 goals for Stade de Reims in all competitions last season, is now thought to be considering his options with Fulham, Chelsea and Tottenham among the clubs interested. It's believed Arsenal want around £50million for the young striker.
Nketiah, meanwhile, has started both the Gunners' Premier League games this campaign and scored in the 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest. The 24-year-old also won a penalty against Crystal Palace on Monday night, which captain Martin Odegaard scored.
Despite the north Londoners' current options up front, former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, believes they need an elite striker to take them to the next level. The Frenchman has even named Alexander Isak as a potential option.
