Mikel Arteta's men have found out who their opponents for the Champions League group stage will be, with the fixtures set to start in September
Arsenal have found out their opponents for the group stages of the 2023/24 Champions League.
The Gunners are back in Europe's top tier competition after a seven-year absence. During the interim period they have spent five seasons inside the Europa League and one outside of European football altogether during one of the lowest points in the club's recent history.
Under Mikel Arteta though Arsenal were able to secure qualification for the Champions League with five games to spare last season. This secured them a spot in Thursday afternoon's draw at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Heading into the draw Arsenal were in pot 2 meaning that they rather fortunately avoided the competitions 14-time winners Real Madrid. The Gunners also couldn't be drawn against Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Porto as a result. Meanwhile they could not face Manchester City, Manchester United or Newcastle by virtue of being a fellow English side.
Now after a long wait their opponents for this season's group stages have finally been revealed.
From pot one they have drawn Sevilla. The Spanish side had made the top seeding by virtue of winning last season's Europa League. It was a fortunate draw for Arsenal given that they could have easily drawn a side like Bayern Munich or Paris St. Germain.
From pot three the Gunners were drawn against PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch side are familiar opponents for Arsenal who played them in the Europa League group stages last season. The Gunners did actually lose to the Eredivisie side in Holland though, so they'll be wary of facing them again.
