Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has been linked with a summer transfer to Arsenal in recent days, although time is running out before the window slams shut
Time is running out for Arsenal to make any signings, with the summer transfer window set to shut in less than 48 hours.
Girona interest
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, La Liga outfit Girona are also keen on Garcia, although Barcelona boss Xavi wants to keep the 22-year-old this summer.
Writing on Twitter, Romano said: "Girona are insisting to sign Eric García from Barcelona to replace Santi Bueno. Xavi wants to keep Eric at Barça — but Girona will insist again today.
"Santi Bueno will travel to UK soon in order to complete his move in excess of €10m to Wolves."
Xavi decision
Jurrien Timber's ACL injury leaves Arsenal relatively short of options in defence and Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo have now claimed that the Gunners see signing Garcia as a suitable solution to their depth worries.
However, it is claimed that Barcelona manager Xavi has no intention of allowing the Spain international to leave so close to the transfer deadline.
Arteta's previous interest
Back in 2020, the Sun reported that Arsenal were interested in signing the then-Manchester City defender.
Mikel Arteta was reportedly keen on Garcia, having worked with him closely during his time as City assistant coach.
