Nobody in Spain expected 17-year-old Endrick to be dominating Marca’s front page four months before he officially arrives at Real Madrid but that’s what becoming the youngest ever goalscorer at Wembley does for a player.

Endrick signed for Real Madrid in December 2022 when he was still 16-years-old from Palmeiras. The initial cost of €35m euros (30m) will rise to €60m (£51.5m) if he is successful in Spain and, for all that it was just a tap-in, his goal suggests the Spanish club’s super scout Juni Calafat, who also signed Endrick’s Brazilian team-mates Vinicius and Rodrygo, has hit the jackpot once again.
‘New chapter, new generation,’ posted Vinicius on social media alongside pictures of himself and Jude Bellingham with the young striker.
Part of the reason why Real Madrid are so excited about Endrick’s arrival is that he already looks at home alongside the players he will share a dressing room with. His goal came following a rebound from a Vinicius shot after he came on for Rodrygo with 20 minutes left.
It will not phase him to play alongside those two, or Jude Bellingham who gave him a playful slap after the 1-0 Brazil win. And nor will debuting in the Santiago Bernabeu be a problem, having shown he can perform in front of 80,000 at Wembley.
This was only Endrick’s third game for Brazil. ‘I’m still processing it,’ he said afterwards. ‘I used to select this stadium when I played video games.’
