Todd Boehly gets Roman Abramovich truth as Chelsea owner sent clear instruction

William Gallas has criticised Chelsea's ownership under Todd Boehly in comparison to Roman Abramovich's time as Blues owner.

Chelsea have struggled for consistency over the past few seasons with a huge number of young players signed. Managers Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard and now Mauricio Pochettino have all found it hard to mould a winning side with the Blues on course to miss out on European football for the second campaign in a row.

And former Chelsea defender Gallas has questioned whether the current setup at Stamford Bridge has «the right people.» He also pointed out how they used to win trophies regardless of how poor a season they were having with their last piece of silverware coming in 2021.

“Under Abramovich, Chelsea always used to win regardless of if they were having a good or bad year, and that’s because they always had a strategy. When you run a club, you need to have people around you who know their job and want to do well," he toldGambling Zone.

“It looks like, at the moment at Chelsea, they don’t have the right people. I’m talking about the sporting director, the scouts and the people who give the advice over which players to sign and which ones have to leave.

“Chelsea won’t qualify for the Champions League, at the beginning of the season I was thinking maybe we would qualify for the Europa League; but now even that looks like it won’t happen. That would be unacceptable for Abramovich and that’s why he was so successful.”
