Eric Dier believes he played he his best football at Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte and opened up on life under Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Ange Postecoglou. The Australian arrived in north London from Scottish champions Celtic last summer, with many predicting a difficult season for Tottenham after record goalscorer Harry Kane was sold to Bayern Munich.
Spurs finished eighth in the Premier League last season with three different managers during a difficult campaign. But Postecoglou has transformed the club during his first campaign in charge, with Tottenham on course to qualify for next season's Champions League.
The north London club currently sit fifth in the table, which is likely to secure a place in Europe's elite competition for 2024/25, depending on the performances of English clubs in Europe this season.
And when asked whether Postecoglou was the most tactically aware manager he’s played for, Dier surprisingly claimed that the Spurs boss tends not to focus on tactics. He claims that previous permanent Spurs boss Antonio Conte was much more focused on tactical work in training.
«No, interestingly he really doesn’t do any tactical work, what he does is, every single training drill from Monday to Friday is drawn up to represent the way that he wants to play,» Dier, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, told the Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet
«Conte, I could do it blind, but that was a lot of tactical work Monday to Friday, a lot of ten versus zero, walkthroughs – you were so well drilled, it would be ingrained in you.”
