This game could see the stars align in Everton’s favour, for once. Palace’s starting line up is decimated by injuries to key players. Everton are welcoming back stars absent through injuries of their own. This is a real opportunity for one of them, Amadou Onana, to assert some authority in the middle as he will not be tasked with having to keep watch on the talented but absent Eberechi Eze. With Abdoulaye Doucoure in contention, Sean Dyche has his four trusted central midfielders available for the first time since Burnley two months ago - the club’s last Premier League win.
James Garner has been the only ever-present in that time. He has done well but providing Doucoure can start it is Garner who drops out for me. This is for no reason other than that he must be shattered given the reliance on him recently - remember he was the only fit senior central midfielder available for Fulham away last month. Doucoure is too important to Everton’s attack to not play once fit, Onana has the greatest potential to dictate a game and Idrissa Gueye has stood out since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations. They are my three.
