Everton should find out the timeframe of its latest prosecution by the Premier League within the next three weeks.
The club was formally notified it had been accused of breaching profit and sustainability regulations for a second consecutive year on Monday.
It now has two weeks to respond to the allegations and provide any supporting documents it wishes to rely upon. An independent panel will be selected to hear the case as soon as possible and the person appointed chair will hold a preliminary directions hearing within one week of the club submitting its response to the claims against it.

That meeting will set out the timeframe for the new prosecution, which is expected to take place after Everton’s appeal against its previous sanction has been heard and no later than mid-April. The club believes the finding of its appeal hearing will directly impact the new case.
Premier League rules set out that, in cases deemed straightforward, the expectation should be that they are completed during this season, with any punishment that stems from the case being applied to the current campaign.
That means that should Everton be found to have committed a new breach then the club could face a second points deduction this season, though other punishments are also available to the ruling panel.
