Everton takeover latest as key 777 Partners duo fly in for game

The co-founders of 777 Partners, the US investment firm that has agreed to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% stake in Everton, are in attendance for the club’s game against Luton Town.

Josh Wander and Steve Pasko will watch the Premier League match from the stands after travelling to Liverpool to watch the football club they hope to own.

It is the first time they have attended a game since their deal with Moshiri was announced earlier this month.

Their bid is subject to the approval of the Premier League and Financial Conduct Authority. If approved, Everton will be added to 777’s portfolio of clubs, which includes Standard Liege, Vasco de Gama and Hertha Berlin.

Details of the deal reached with Moshiri remain unclear, with questions remaining over how the move and completion of the club’s new waterfront stadium will be financed.

This week, mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram wrote of his concerns over the current state of Everton under Moshiri and the club’s future as part of a special report on the club and 777 by the ECHO. He secured a meeting with a senior figure within the group’s football operation, Don Dransfield, the following day. Several supporter organisations have also met with Dransfield this week.

Fanbases at several of the clubs 777 has invested in have raised issues with the group, though its foray into football is recent. Last week a banner was unfurled from the away end at Brentford that said ‘777 not welcome’.
