Mauricio Pochettino was a very busy man on Thursday afternoon as he fielded questions on Chelsea's current injury crisis.
There are over nine players that have definitely been ruled out for the Blues' Premier League match with Burnley at the weekend, while there are three who will be assessed before the game. Pochettino, who saw midfielder Romeo Lavia ruled out for the remainder of the season earlier in the week, was inevitably asked about what exactly is happening at Cobham to cause these injuries, but was not able to give an exact answer.
The Argentine was also asked about Raheem Sterling's situation, Burnley's threat, Vincent Kompany, a target for the end of the season, and much more. Follow everything he had to say in the transcript below.
Who do you expect to have available on Saturday?
«Still we need to assess a few players like [Ben] Chilwell, who came from the national team playing two games after he didn't play with us. He got a knock in his leg, on his knee, today he wasn't ready to train.
»We will see what happens tomorrow, whether he will be available for the squad. We need to assess him. A few players also like Enzo didn't arrive. Today was a training session to put everyone at the same level and to check for tomorrow to prepare the game and see if they can be available. Not too many new news."
Were you surprised Chilwell played twice for England?
«Surprised, not surprised, I don't know. If he cannot play for us or be available, and because he didn't play after Brentford with us, he only played a few minutes against Leicester in the FA Cup. Yes, it was a situation that he started two games, maybe it's a surprise for us.
