Exact times to get 'yellow sticker' bargains at Asda, Morrisons, M&S and Sainsbury's

Amid the ongoing cost of living crisis, every penny counts.

Families across the UK are already struggling to make ends meet, and face a further blow as the costs of everyday items continue to increase. With the "big shop" costing more than it ever has, it can be handy to find ways to save money.

Loans, credit card and mortgages company Ocean Finance previously issued a number of tips to feed your family for less - including the best times to visit Asda, Sainsbury's and other supermarkets to grab "yellow sticker" bargains.

Food items are often reduced throughout the day, but there are better times to shop if you want to make some big savings.

These are the specific times to visit supermarkets to bag a bargain, according to Ocean Finance:

• M&S – An hour before closing
• Morrisons – 6pm
• Sainsbury’s – 6pm
• Asda – 7pm
• Waitrose – 6pm

Elsewhere Which? said that Aldi "marks down perishable products like bread, meat, fruit and vegetables by either 30% or 75% on their last day of shelf life before stores close, and gives a 30% discount on ambient groceries such as cereal, pasta and tinned food if it deems the packaging imperfect."

The consumer champion also suggests avoiding convenience stores, trying own-label or budget ranges, and using unit pricing, such as the price per 100g or per 100ml, to work out the best deals.
