Exclusive: €100m-rated striker is top of Arsenal’s shopping list but Gunners face competition from EPL rivals
It’s no secret that Premier League table-toppers Arsenal are already working to sign a new striker in the summer.
According to CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of the situation, Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres remains the name at the top of their list.
The Swedish forward, who has already scored 33 goals and provided 12 assists (per WhoScored) in what’s turning out to be a great season for the 25-year-old, has a release clause of €100m in his contract.

The Portuguese outfit are almost certain that at least one of the teams in the race will pay that amount in the coming months because the competition for Gyokeres, in fact, is super fierce.
In addition to the Gunners, English top-flight rivals Chelsea and Man United, as well as AC Milan in Italy and Paris Saint-Germain in France, are just some of the clubs interested in him.
For this reason, Arsenal are keen to avoid an auction and so are also looking around to identify other interesting names to strengthen their attack.
The characteristics that Mikel Arteta and Edu require from a new front man are clear; a physical striker with a different skill set to Gabriel Jesus, so as to have players available for every type of match.
Furthermore, in light of Eddie Nketiah’s performances – which are not convincing and should see him leave in the summer with some English and German clubs showing interest – the arrival of a new striker remains the absolute priority for Arsenal.
