A beautiful Welsh village has been described as one of the best places to visit in the UK - and it's not far from Liverpool.
It has been listed among the best staycations in the country, due to its "fairytale" scenery, walking trails, quaint pubs and even a secluded waterfall. Betws-y-Coed, in Conwy, has previously been described as Wales' answer to the Alps in winter, thanks to the hikes, fast-flowing rivers and icy waterfalls.
However even in the summer, it's just as stunning and there is even more do to when the sun is shining. Since the opening of the A5 in the early 19th century, the village has been a natural crossroads for road travellers and it takes between one-and-a-half and two hours to get to it from Liverpool.

For people familiar with Betws-y-Coed, its accolades are not unexpected but still welcome, North Wales Live reports. But GO Outdoors recently placed it top of the pile in their best 20 holiday hotspots.
The village itself is made up of slate and stone buildings that ooze Welsh heritage and there's not one, but two rivers running through it. With activities like Zip World Fforest and also the plenty places to both eat and stay , it's easy to see why.
