It hasn't taken long for Eric Dier to settle into his new surroundings in Germany after the Englishman joined Bayern Munich on loan from Tottenham, and his newly-adopted accent prompted hilarious reactions on social media.
The versatile defender is a surprise new addition to Thomas Tuchel's Champions League contenders after being granted permission to leave Spurs following a lack of opportunities this season.
Dier has been re-united with former Tottenham striker and England captain Harry Kane, who departed the Premier League for Bayern in the summer, and gave an insight into his feelings around moving to the Bundesliga champions.
However, Dier has become the latest high-profile star to adopt a new accent after moving across Europe with his short interview with the club seeing him speak English with a slightly German dialect.
Football fans reacting to the 29-year-old's interaction laughed at Dier's effort as he joined the infamous list of other player's who have come before him.
'I spoke to Harry [Kane] yesterday. We just spoke about what I was going to do today. If I was going to trade or not and when I was going to see him,' Dier said in the short interaction.
'I think I'll see him later in the training ground,' he added.
His interview drew similarities to Manchester United's Jadon Sancho who similarly came across with a German accent in interviews during his first stint at Borussia Dortmund.
The England international rejoined Dortmund on-loan this week after being banished from United's first-team by manager Erik ten Hag.
Commenting on Dier's new accent, one post read: 'No we need to start investigating this accent switch during interviews. Sancho now Dier.'
