Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has explained why Mauricio Pochettino remains under pressure as manager at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have endured a turbulent first season at the start of the Mauricio Pochettino era. The 51-year-old took over as the club's manager in the summer following the exit of Frank Lampard who had the job on an interim basis in the final weeks of last season.
The current campaign has seen Chelsea have contrasting fortunes in the Premier League compared to the cup competitions. The Blues are in the final of the Carabao Cup and secured a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win away at Aston Villa on Wednesday.
In the Premier League, though, Chelsea lie in 11th place in the table and 15 points adrift of the Champions League places. The last two results in the top flight have resulted in defeats to Liverpool and Wolves with four goals conceded in each.
Those results in particular have led to increased speculation around Pochettino's future. But the situation is not currently something that Johnson believes is at the stage of seeing Pochettino in danger of losing his job.
Johnson, who made 71 appearances for Chelsea, believes that while results need to improve at his former club, the club should not be thinking about a change of manager at this stage.
