French striker Anthony Modeste has joined African champions Al Ahly.
The veteran forward signed a one-year deal, with the option of a further year, to join the Egyptian giants after leaving German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Modeste is expected to help Al Ahly win the Egyptian league as well as lead the club retain the CAF Champions League. Al Ahly will also compete in the Club World Cup later this year.
Al Ahly announced the signing of forward in a lovely video, as reported by kingfut.com.
Modeste became the fourth signing of the club in the transfer window, joining Reda Slim, Emam Ashour, and Khaled Abdelfattah, whose loan deal became permanent.
The former Koln star also becomes the fifth Frenchman to sign for the club. Florent Malouda, Chris Gadi, Walid Kharaoui, and Benoît Croissant are the former French players to have played for the club.
The 35-year-old was on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt in the transfer window and was expected to be the replacement of Randal Kolo Mauni.
However, he decided to seek a new adventure in Africa.
