Mikael Silvestre has warned Manchester United about signing Marc Cucurella and Ryan Gravenberch ahead of transfer deadline day.
United have held talks with Chelsea about a possible loan deal for the Spaniard, who moved to Stamford Bridge for £63million last summer. Luke Shaw's injury has sparked the need to bolster left-back with Tyrell Malacia also out.
Cucurella struggled in his first year at Chelsea and was often seen as a hallmark of their extravagant and, at times, unnecessary spending. As a result, Silvestre has aired concerns about whether he's good enough defensively.
United want to add Sofyan Amrabat to improve their midfield options too. Gravenberch was considered but he now looks like joining Liverpool.

“I’m not sure about Cucurella," Silvestre told bettingexpert.com. "Offensively, he has shown a lot of qualities, but defensively, he’s not great, and United need that platform at the back, so he wouldn’t be my number one pick.
“Anyone that comes in would be a number three choice.”
“He’s a good player, but I can’t see what he would bring to the midfield," he added on Gravenberch. "[Marcel] Sabitzer came last season and did okay but couldn’t impose himself, and I can see Gravenberch doing the same.
“United have to go for players that will improve the squad if they want to close the gap on the title contenders. Other than the left-back position, I don’t expect any movement for United.
