England will pay a heartfelt tribute to former manager Terry Venables during their friendly match against Brazil this month. The beloved ex-Three Lions boss, who sadly passed away aged 80 last November, will be honoured before the game kicks off at Wembley on March 23.
It's understood that there will be a round of applause for Venables, who also managed big clubs like Barcelona, Tottenham and Crystal Palace. Stars from his 1996 European Championship team have been invited, with FA officials finalising plans, report Mail Sport.
Key figures from Venables' career have been asked to attend, but it's not yet known if there will be a pitch-side tribute like the one for Sir Bobby Charlton last November. The tribute to Venables is expected to be similar, given his significant role in English football history.
The programme for England's match with Malta featured Sir Bobby's image, and corner flags were black in his honour. A touching 90-second video of his England career was shown to the crowd before the players came out of the tunnel.
Venables earned two England caps, but he's best remembered for his time as manager between 1994 and 1996.
