Tottenham picked up a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening in Premier League action.
Spurs opened the scoring after just 16 minutes with Timo Werner's cross guided into his own net by Murillo. Despite dominating the opening stages, Forest grabbed an equaliser with Chris Wood turning home Ola Aina's cut-back. The Lilywhites were then fortunate to enter the break level with Wood striking the post from point-blank range.
Ange Postecoglou made a double change at half-time with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur on in place of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma. Following on from that decision, Micky van de Ven thundered in a delightful strike following a short-corner routine to put Spurs back in front.
Pedro Porro then increased the hosts' advantage as he guided home a cross from James Maddison despite a slight headed touch from Bentancur. With United and Villa dropping points, Spurs picking up a win was vital following their midweek disappointment and the three points gained saw them break into the top four.
With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at Spurs' upcoming brutal fixture run-in and compared it to the tasks awaiting Man United and Aston Villa.
For Tottenham, the next few weeks will be absolutely vital to their Champions League qualification hopes. A trip to Newcastle kicks off a run of four games where Spurs could come away with zero points given the size of the task that awaits.
Last season, in this fixture, Spurs were blown away in the first half and went on to lose 6-1. The Magpies picking up another win against Fulham this past Saturday has brought them back into the conversation for a European spot and they will therefore be eyeing another three points at the expense of Spurs.
