Chelsea sufferred a dispiriting defeat on Saturday afternoon against Newcastle. Having went in at half-time drawing 1-1 as Raheem Sterling's free kick cancelled out Alexander Isak's opening strike, the Blues folded to lose 4-1 in perhaps their worst performance of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino could only watch on from the directors' box having picked up a suspension after being awarded three yellow cards this season. Unsurprisingly the 51-year-old head coach was at times left with his head in his hands given the manner of the west London side's capitulation.
Chelsea's head coach will have been left with a lot to mull in his seat with the likes of sporting director Laurence Stewart, and owner Behdad Eghbali sitting nearby, and would have had a great deal to contemplate on the long journey back south. His side can simply not replicate such a performance against Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

It's safe to say that Pochettino was disappointed with the performance he watched on Saturday afternoon, and in his press conference, possibly for the first time, offered no defence for his players.
He said: «We were not prepared in the best way to compete today. That is my concern. We thought we were ready to compete today but we didn't in the way the competition demanded,. Even if Newcastle wasn't great, it was an easy win. To come here, Chelsea, and show it would be difficult for them to play to win the game and beat us. It was so easy the way that we conceded. the way we were soft in every single challenge, we did not show we were playing for something important.
