Gabriel Jesus is absent from the Arsenal starting line up for their Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash with Bayern Munich. The Brazilian international started in Saturday's 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion and won the penalty for Bukayo Saka to open the scoring.
However, speaking on Monday in the build up to Tuesday night's Champions League match at the Emirates Stadium, he admitted that he has been struggling with injuries.
«That’s a good question because normally I don’t talk about this,» he said when asked about a spate of injury issues that have kept him out for much of this season. «Me personally I don’t want to talk about my fitness like ‘what’s going wrong’. After the World Cup I had that injury in my knee and I recovered so well but had a setback after in the pre-season.
»Then I had to go and open [it up] and do again a small [operation]. Then after I came back and well I played like three games in a row, 90 minutes, and again the knee. Then after in the training I had a kick on my knee. This kind of thing, people don’t know this.
«I’m just trying to get fit and help Arsenal as much as I can. Unfortunately I’m having some problems next season. I hope next season I don’t have it.

»Sometimes I feel (my knee) but I don’t remember the last day I played football without pain. I cannot complain. I’m just trying to recover in a good way to be ready next game. Then that’s it. Mentally I try to be strong in my mind, that’s it."
