Gary Lineker and Micah Richards have disagreed on whether VAR should be scrapped in the Premier League following the controversy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The fallout is continuing from the game between Spurs and Liverpool on Saturday evening, in which Jurgen Klopp’s side saw a goal from Luiz Diaz wrongly ruled out for offside. The Reds also finished the game with nine men after Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were given their matching orders.
However, for Diaz’s goal, the PGMOL admitted immediately after Tottenham's 2-1 win that 'a significant human error' occurred during the review. It also emerged that the VAR incorrectly thought the on-field decision was that a goal had been awarded, when in fact it had not been.
This has prompted plenty of debate around whether VAR should be scrapped. And while Richards believes the time has come to do away with the technology, Lineker still believes it has a place in the game.

"I honestly think that most fans, particularly those that go to the stand, would absolutely say 'let's ban it'," the Match of the Day host told The Rest Is Football podcast.
"I still think it can be a good thing. Sometimes I get very frustrated by it and think 'How can you make such mistakes?'
"It would perhaps be better without it because we'd still analyse mistakes, but you'd kind of be a little more forgiving if a referee makes an error than perhaps somebody who's shown 20 replays of a decision.
