Gary Neville gives brutal response to Ian Wright over Harry Kane to Arsenal transfer claim

Gary Neville has confidently claimed Arsenal don't stand a chance of signing Harry Kane should the striker decide to return to England.

Kane ended his lengthy association with Tottenham Hotspur last summer to sign for Bayern Munich, though may well end his debut campaign without a trophy to his name. The German giants trail league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by ten points and have the Champions League as their only hope of silverware in 2023/24.

It has been a fine season for Kane on an individual level, however, having scored 37 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions. Such performances have seen the 30-year-old immediately turn into a talismanic figure for Bayern, who will hope to bounce back next year.

Kane will have the ambition of winning silverware with his new employers, having failed to do so at Spurs, though many believed it is only a matter of time before the prolific marksman comes back to the Premier League to hunt down Alan Shearer's all-time scoring record.

Shearer is top of the Premier League list with 260 goals to his name, 47 strikes ahead of Kane (213). Admitting he always believed the latter would remain in England until he had reached top spot, Neville said on the Stick To Football Podcast: «I never thought he would go to Munich, I never thought he would leave the country, I thought he was destined to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record.

“I just didn’t think he would go. For me the England record, I thought he would be that hung up about it, I thought he would go to a Premier League club to break the record. He may have had to go abroad to escape to come back.”
