Tottenham's attempts to end a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League will face a big hurdle in the shape of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will take on Pep Guardiola's side with 11 first team players unavailable — 10 out injured and most for lengthy periods as well as Cristian Romero serving the final match of his three-game suspension. The Australian will not compromise his philosophy though despite the makeshift nature of the team he will put out.
We asked our Tottenham correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest to name the team they would select if they were in Postecoglou's shoes.
On the whole Postecoglou was really happy with the way his patched-up Spurs team played against Aston Villa and admitted they served up some of their best football of the season, carving the visitors apart time and time again but were unable to score more than the one goal from their 18 shots.
At the other end of the pitch, a backline entirely comprised of full-backs did well in the main but were sloppy for both Villa goals and suffered with a noticeable lack of height for the first. That lack of ability in the air is going to be one of many tests they will need to tackle when coming up against Erling Haaland & Co on Sunday.
Postecoglou seemed to make it clear to football.london on Friday that he would be sticking with the unorthodox back four and not bringing in Eric Dier for his added height.
