Sky Sports presenter Rob Wotton suffered an unfortunate slip of the tongue while discussing Birmingham City's struggles live on air.
Wayne Rooney admitted he could have replaced his whole team at half-time after the Blues lost 3-1 to Stoke at St Andrew’s on Boxing Day.
The Blues have now lost eight games at home since the former England captain took charge in October and are just seven points clear of the relegation zone.
As he introduced a segment on Birmingham's defeat against Stoke, Wotton referenced Rooney's comments and said he 'admitted he would have sacked his entire team off.'
But his pronunciation of the word 'sacked' sounded closer to describing a lewd sexual act than he intended, with the clip of his faux pas immediately going viral on social media.
There was precious little for Rooney to smile about after his side conceded three goals for the third time in the space of a week.
The Manchester United great has taken just nine points out of 39 since replacing John Eustace in October and his team were booed off on Boxing Day.
'Ideally, you wish you could have 11 subs as I could have changed all 11 players at half-time,' he said.
'We just weren’t doing the right things – the basics. It wasn’t lack of effort, that would be unfair to say. It was lack of game knowledge.
'It’s hard to put into words. I didn’t see that performance coming. I didn’t recognise the team out there on the pitch.
'It’s frustrating because over the last few games we’d made some real strides, so this was difficult to take.
'It wasn’t the result, or the performance, or anything we wanted to be honest. It was unrecognisable in the way we played.
'I felt the players didn’t want to take the ball, they didn’t press the way we wanted them to.
