Despite Lille OSC’s insistence that Leny Yoro (18) is not for sale this January, Paris Saint-Germain are set to test Les Dogues’ resolve before the closure of the transfer window, according to L’Équipe.
Multiple targets have been identified by PSG this month. Milan Skriniar’s injury at the start of the month hastened the search for reinforcements at centre-back and perhaps forced the club to consider some more low-cost alternatives, but Les Parisiens’ admiration of Yoro is no secret.
The France youth international, who is attracting interest from Europe’s leading clubs, including Real Madrid and Liverpool, has become a priority target for PSG, and they are not wanting to wait around until the summer to make a move.
Aware that they will face much stiffer competition for Yoro’s signature come the end of the season, PSG are preparing a bid before the closure of the transfer window. Despite RMC Sport’s report that PSG have only €20m to spend on a centre-back this month, a bid of over €50m is being readied, according to L’Équipe.
That offer will either be as a straight transfer or as a loan with the obligation to make the move permanent. However, Lille remain firm in their stance. Speaking to Le Parisien, president Olivier Létang ruled out a transfer this month.
He has now reiterated that stance in an interview with L’Équipe. “Our position hasn’t changed. There are no discussions in January. I have refused to discuss a transfer with interested clubs because I want us to concentrate on the sporting side, and on the objective,” he said. It remains to be seen whether PSG’s impending offer will change his mind.
