The Grand National Festival at Aintree gets underway on this afternoon.
The three-day meeting kicks off today, April 11, with a handful of high-class jump races that are sure to enthral the passionate crowds that make the day what it is.
Despite attracting a lower attendance than Grand National day itself, the opening day is still a hugely popular event on the jump racing calendar, with around 35,000 people expected to attend, making it one of the most well-attended days outside the Cheltenham festival.
