The Gunners have agreed a fee with the Eagles for the 27-year-old centre back who is one of several players they are hoping to offload before the summer transfer window closes at 11pm
Romano:
Medical ongoing for Rob Holding at Crystal Palace. Done deal and here we go for £4m fee
Permanent transfer from Arsenal for the centre back who preferred move to Palace over La Liga proposals.
The Gunners have been open to offers on the 27-year-old who is no longer viewed as part of Mikel Arteta's plans. Palace have long been admirers of Holding who is set to end his seven-year stay in north London.
Holding also has interest from Sevilla who are negotiating over the possibility of a loan deal or a permanent deal with just hours remaining until the summer transfer window closes in both England and Spain at 11pm BST.
"He is a player who has interested us for a while," Hodgson said on Friday. "Dougie Freedman (Palace sporting director) knows him very well.
"We’re working on the basis that you can't have too many quality players in your squad. If he was available and it’s a deal that is doable I’d be very happy to work with him. Our squad is not that massive. There is space in the 25-man squad for another player. If it could be Rob we’d be happy with that."
When it comes to incomings Arteta has revealed that he is not expecting the Gunners to be busy. "There is nobody else coming in," he said. "We don’t expect it. That’s what I can say."
