Rasmus Hojlund has hailed teammate Kobbie Mainoo as ‘a generational talent’ who can help take Manchester United into a bright new era.
Mainoo scored a sensational 97th-minute winner to give United a 4-3 win over Wolves in a thrilling encounter at Molineux on Thursday night.
It followed the teenager’s first senior goal in the FA Cup win at Newport County on Sunday as he continues to enjoy a breakthrough season at United.
Mainoo has impressed the rest of the squad with his maturity and composure since stepping up to the first-team group under Erik ten Hag.
Hojlund has become close friends with the Stockport-born midfielder since joining United for £72million in the summer and believes Mainoo has the world at his feet.
‘We have a generational talent in Kobbie Mainoo,’ said Hojlund. ‘You can see his composure, he is so relaxed on the ball. So much quality on the ball. Now he's also starting to show that he has the scoring parts of his game as well. He's a complete player.
‘It’s not about taking the responsibility, he’s so relaxed, so calm, he knows his quality and he knows when he goes out there he’s going to perform. Everybody knows that from the team and you guys can see it as well now. He’s a top player.’
On their friendship, Hojlund added: ‘We enjoy things, spending time outside together. Us young guys, we have a little group and we're chatting to each other. It's very cool to have other young players around the team and hopefully we can set an era for the club and be here many years together.
‘If you're good enough, you're old enough and I think that's a good thing. We're here for a reason.’
