Keylor Navas (37) announced on Saturday that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season . The Costa Rican goalkeeper joined the French champions in 2019 and in his first season at the club helped Les Parisiens reach the Champions League final.
He had become a firm favourite with the Paris faithful after he earned their respect following that famous European run. However, despite his acclaim with the supporters, he ultimately lost his place in the starting lineup with the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) at the start of the 2021/22 season.
The match on Sunday against Toulouse FC would have been Navas’s final chance to say goodbye to the Parc des Princes as a PSG player, but Luis Enrique instead opted to play Arnau Tenas (22). And the PSG supporters unfurled a banner celebrating the goalkeeper’s time at the club: “ Gracias por todos Navas .”
When asked about this decision, Luis Enrique claimed he “ hadn’t seen the news that Navas was going to leave the club .” The PSG manager further elaborated on this justification by stating, “ I make my decisions based on what is best for the team .”
