Beto has called on Everton’s fans to keep the faith with the team as he explained his biggest challenge in adapting to the Premier League.
A 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday ensured Sean Dyche’s side have now gone 12 Premier League matches without a win, equalling the club record set in October 1994. The Blues now travel to the other end of the country to face Newcastle United on Tuesday as they look for their first three points for three-and-a-half months.
Beto said: “It’s hard for them because they are like this since December. It’s hard. But I ask the fans to keep believing in us, keep trusting us, because we are fighting for them – I fight for them, my team-mates fight for them. We’re going to come back for sure.”

A £25.8million signing from Udinese last August, Beto came off the bench as a 78th minute substitute at the Vitality Stadium a netted his side’s equaliser with a close range finish after home keeper Neto dropped Dwight McNeil’s left wing cross when colliding with team-mate Chris Mepham. It was a fifth goal of a debut season in England for the Portuguese striker who hit double figures in Italy’s Serie A in both of the previous two campaigns.
Asked how he thinks his own game has adapted since arriving on Merseyside and what issues he has faced to a different style of play, Beto said: “I feel I’m developing every single session and every single game. Whether I play 90 minutes, 45 minutes or 50, I feel like I’m always developing.
“This is one of my things. Sometimes we play good, sometimes we play bad but I’m already into the English football.
