Joe Gormley sweeps Cliftonville level
Dungannon felt Odhran Casey should have seen red for this tangle with Matthew Lusty
Jim Magilton hailed the enduring class of Joe Gormley after he sparked a cracking Cliftonville comeback.
The striker scored the first of the Reds’ four second-half goals against Dungannon Swifts.
Gormley has been a serial Swifts tormentor, having hit 25 goals against them down the years.
Even at 34, he is as deadly as ever — this was his eighth goal in the Sports Direct Premiership this term. Magilton is in awe of his ability.

“Joe is an outstanding goalscorer and he’s up there with the very best this League has ever seen,” he said.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to work with him and you know that he is the first to react.
“He has this wonderful knack that all great goalscorers have — the ball bounces and all of a sudden, it’s Joe Gormley putting the ball in the net.
“That is just an acquired talent. I’m not in a league to even discuss it, so I can’t explain it, but it’s why he is who he is.”

Cliftonville were trailing to Matty Lusty’s goal when Gormley kick-started the comeback ahead of Ronan Hale making it 2-1 soon later.
Dungannon were never as bad as the scoreline suggests, with Ben Gallagher going close with a volley. Gallagher also had a penalty appeal rejected and the Swifts were adamant Odhran Casey should have seen red for bringing down Lusty. But two goals in the last few minutes from Ben Wilson wrapped it up.
