Deadly David Fisher credits manager Warren Feeney for his rich goal scoring form.
The 22-year-old took his tally to 14 in Glentoran’s Clearer Water Irish Cup win over Ballyclare Comrades at the BetMcLean Oval, with Charlie Lindsay also gobbling up his first goal since arriving on loan from Derby County, helping the Glens book a semi-final showdown with Linfield at the end of the month.
Fisher says former Northern Ireland striker Feeney has helped improve his predatory instincts in front of goal.
“The boss has been pushing me hard,” he laughed. “He always takes me aside in training. When we work on our finishing and I don’t hit the target, he is straight on to me, telling me where I’m going wrong.
“It’s good to have that and it’s good for me to lean on his experience. He always encourages me to do my best work inside the box. I have a habit of drifting deep, but he tells me to get into the box and stay there.
“I’m really enjoying myself at the club. The gaffer is starting me in every game, I’m getting the minutes that I needed. I never got the pre-season that I would have liked, but now I’m in full flow and enjoying myself playing football.”
Fisher has now reset hit goal target for the season.
