Jack Wilshere has revealed why he thinks Mikel Arteta will one day win the Premier League title as Arsenal manager. The Gunners are currently enthralled in a three-way race for the top spot alongside Liverpool and Manchester City, with a clash against the latter set to be contested upon the conclusion of the international break likely to prove decisive.
Courtesy of their superior goal difference, Arsenal lead the way on 64 points with Liverpool on the same total and Man City just one point behind. With 10 games to play, the title race is now in Arsenal's hands with Wilshere giving several reasons as to why Arteta will eventually win the Premier League title, even if not this season.
Speaking on Simon Jordan's Up Front podcast with William Hill, he said: «I think he can. Yes, he will eventually [win the Premier League title]. Whether that is this season or next season, whenever that is, the steps that they've made and the thing is whenever I see Mikel he is getting more and more intense. More and more passionate. He's so focused.
»Everyone was going 'no one is going to catch Man City or Liverpool', now all of a sudden we're in the conversation and we are getting stronger.
«Yes there are some hurdles that teams will have to face and I'm sure we'll have to face them at some point, like last year we lost a few players to injury. Asked if Arsenal bottled it last season, he said: „Suffered.“ City lose Dias and in comes Akanji.»
Not many in the game know Arteta like Wilshere does given their playing days together with both now back at Arsenal in a coaching capacity. The 32-year-old has been the manager of Arsenal's under-18s for the last two years and has thus seen first-hand the senior team grow under the stewardship of Arteta.
