Ian Wright has highlighted the main reason why Liverpool were able to beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
The Reds claimed a 1-0 win after extra time to beat Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal in the 118th minute to clinch a record 10th League Cup in Liverpool's history and the second of the Jurgen Klopp era.
Liverpool were forced to be without numerous first-team players due to injury for the game, including Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota, among others. As a result, Klopp brought several academy starlets into the game for extra time including Jarell Quansah, Bobby Clark, James McConnell and Jayden Danns.
Despite the injury issues Liverpool are dealing with, Klopp was still able to rely on some of the most experienced players in his squad. Van Dijk and Andy Robertson were on the pitch for the majority of the game, and Wright has explained on the Stick to Football podcast from Sky Bet why those two players made the difference for the Reds.

“When you look at Virgil Van Dijk, Andy Robertson, and the experience these young players, who came on for Liverpool have played with, they’ve come on with a different mentality to these Chelsea players who are under pressure to perform in a final, for a manager who’s not won anything," said Wright.
"You could see the momentum changing, you can’t negate the Liverpool fans, and what they do, the manager has to take a lot of the blame, the players froze."
