Federico Redondo is the latest young South American to join the MLS side.
Inter Miami got their 2024 MLS regular season started on the right foot, winning their season opener on Wednesday night with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both providing assists.
On Friday, fans got good news once again, as the club announced the official signing of Federico Redondo. The signing marked yet another shrewd move from Miami's front office in poaching upper-echelon young talent from South America.
Redondo is a 21-year-old with a ton of talent at his disposal. His father, Fernando, was considered one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation. He made over 200 appearances for Real Madrid and earned 29 caps for the Argentina national team.
He passed his footballing genes down to Federico, who has played for Argentina's youth national teams. Most recently, he played a big role in the U-23 team qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympics, where he will feature if allowed to go.
Packed with defensive fortitude, great vision, passingand stellar technique, Redondo will surely play a lot in his first MLS season. Diego Gomez, the 20-year-old Paraguayan who scored in the season opener, could form a great duo with the fellow South American with Sergio Busquets manning the middle.
