Andy Robertson has spoken out on the flu outbreak in the Liverpool squad this week.
The Reds were without nine senior players for their 3-1 victory against Burnley on Saturday, with Ryan Gravenberch left unused on the bench after feeling something in the warm-up.
From those absentees, Joe Gomez and Alisson Becker were absent because of illness, with the defender missing training at the back-end of the week before the goalkeeper succumbed himself. In the pair’s absence, Robertson was handed his first start in four months after recovering from a dislocated shoulder, while Caoimhin Kelleher started in goal.
Speaking after the final whistle, the Scot was hopeful that no more of his Liverpool team-mates would be struck down ahead of facing Brentford next weekend.

“We have a full week now to prepare for the (Brentford) game and hopefully the lads who have had it can come back, and hopefully no-one else catches it.
“We’ll be fine (and) hopefully we go to Brentford with our strongest squad, they had a good result today and it’s never easy going to that place. We have to be at the top of our game.”
Had Gomez not been ruled out because of illness, he could well have continued at left-back with Robertson having to wait for a starting role as a result.
