Jamal Musiala 'rejects' new Bayern Munich contract as Chelsea 'enter the equation' for transfer

Jamal Musiala has reportedly turned down a new contract at Bayern Munich as he goes in search of a Premier League move this summer.

The 21-year-old is a player in demand after enhancing his reputation as one of the brightest talents in world football since making his first-team breakthrough at Bayern in 2020.

Liverpool and Manchester City are just two of the clubs eyeing a deal for the tricky winger, who has two years remaining on his current deal in Germany. A latest report by theDaily Star has indicated Chelsea are also showing a «strong interest» and will imminently «enter the equation».

It is understood Musiala has informed Bayern he will not be agreeing to a new £150,000 per week offer that is on the table and could therefore seek an exit this summer.

The youngster was once on the books for Chelsea, between 2011 and 2019, though he left the Blues at the age of 16 to join Bayern. This decision has proven to be a costly one for Mauricio Pochettino's side, who would likely have to pay a sum in excess of £80million to be reunited with their one-time academy prospect.

Failure to secure European football for next season could also scupper Chelsea's chances of a deal, with Musiala currently competing in the Champions League. The likeliest way left for the Londoners to make this a reality would be to win the FA Cup, which would guarantee Europa League football for 2024/25.

So far during this campaign, Musiala has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances. Despite impressing from an individual perspective, Bayern look set to miss
