James Maddison has made his stance on Harry Kane absolutely clear during Tottenham's friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk. The 30-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich recently as he considers his options with just 12-months left on his contract.
In what could be Kane's final game for the Lilywhites in north London, Maddison provided his captain a delicious assist just moments into the second-half. After nodding the ball past the Shakhtar goalkeeper, Kane strolled towards the corner flag where he was greeted by Dejan Kulusevski, Emerson Royal and Pape Matar Sarr.
As they waltzed back into their own half the England international was then congratulated by his provider, Maddison. While the duo have begun to form an excellent relationship on the pitch during pre-season, Ange Postecoglou could very well lose Kane, who faces an increasingly uncertain future at Spurs.
Earlier this week, Maddison insisted that the cloud of doubt hanging over his teammate's future isn't a distraction and admitted that he'd love him to stay. The attacking midfielder said: «We were friends before I joined Tottenham from the England squad, we have similar interests and get on well anyway away from football.
»I would love Harry Kane to stay, he's the best No9 in the world in my opinion – but what will be will be and Harry is super professional," added Maddison. «It hasn't been a distraction, Harry is super professional.
