Dundela 3 Bangor 2
Bangor boss Lee Feeney
A Jordan Jenkins-inspired Dundela ended Bangor’s 11-game unbeaten run to go four points clear at the top of the Playr-Fit Championship.
Glentoran loanee Jenkins scored a sensational hat-trick as the relentless Duns produced a performance that the Seasiders struggled to cope with.
Kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes due to issues with the Wilgar Park lighting system – but when the game eventually kicked-off, there was no shortage of sparks.
Jenkins got the ball rolling on 19 minutes when he ran at the Bangor defence, forcing Dungannon loan star Lewis Francis into a foul. Jenkins put the spot-kick straight down the middle.
Bangor equalised five minutes later when an unmarked Ben Arthurs headed home a corner-kick from inside the six-yard box.
But Jenkins struck again in the 32nd minute. He latched onto a David McMaster pass before burning through the Bangor defence and firing into the bottom corner.
The Dundela forward completed his hat-trick five minutes into the new half as he ran onto a long ball.
A heavy touch took the striker wide, but he cut back onto his right boot and fired a shot across James Taylor from a tight angle.
The Duns had chances to extend their lead. Charlie Dornan was twice presented with cut-backs inside the penalty box only to hit one at Taylor and pull the other wide, while substitutes Lee Rea and Anto Burns both squandered one-on-one chances after Arthurs had pulled a goal back for Bangor in the 76th minute.
This time there was no late miracle for Lee Feeney’s men, as Dundela held on for a 3-2 win in front of a packed Wilgar Park.
The Duns lead Institute by four and both Bangor and Portadown by five with Ballyclare Comrades and Harland and Wolff Welders
