'Not that easy' - Bayern Munich chief makes honest Xabi Alonso admission amid Liverpool links
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has addressed rumours of interest in hiring Xabi Alonso as the club's new manager with Liverpool also a potential destination.
The Reds have been linked with Alonso as Jurgen Klopp's potential successor as Liverpool manager. Klopp announced in January that he would be stepping down at the end of the season, with the club now searching for a replacement.
Alonso is one candidate who has been linked with the job ever since Klopp first made his announcement, having enjoyed a successful season so far in charge of Bayer Leverkusen. Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann have also been linked with the future vacancy.
Reports in recent weeks have also linked Bayern Munich with potentially hiring Alonso in the summer. The Bundesliga giants announced last month that Thomas Tuchel would be leaving at the end of the season, meaning they too, just like Liverpool, will be searching for a replacement.

Now, Eberl has provided an update on Bayern's quest to appoint a successor to Tuchel. While not specifically naming Alonso, Eberl did acknowledge that some candidates are already in work with other clubs.
"Of course we want the new coach to be chosen as quickly as possible, but it has to be right, there won't be a quick fix," Eberl told Sky Germany. "We have a list of priorities that we want to work through. But we still have one more season with Thomas Tuchel.
