Bayern Munich legend claims third club are 'working on deal' for Xabi Alonso along with Liverpool
Bayern Munich legend Uli Hoeness has claimed that Liverpool and his old club are "working" on a deal to appoint Xabi Alonso as their new boss - along with Real Madrid.
The Reds have been heavily linked with hiring Alonso as their next manager ever since it was confirmed that Jurgen Klopp would be leaving the club at the end of the season. Klopp announced the news on January 26 and since then the rumours have been swirling as to who could be his successor in the Anfield dugout.
Alonso has emerged as the early favourite. However, he is not the only contender reportedly in the race. Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi and Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann have been mentioned as potential candidates as well.
Munich have also been linked with appointing Alonso in the summer. Current manager Thomas Tuchel will depart at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Alonso is on the verge of guiding Bayer Leverkusen to their first ever Bundesliga title. Should he succeed, his reputation in world football will increase even more so than it has already in recent months.
And Hoeness, who won three Bundesligas and European Cups with Bayern during his playing days before serving as their president on two separate occasions, has claimed that Real Madrid are also interested. That is despite the fact that their current manager, former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, signed a new contract in December.
