Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes admits the club "don't have 100% security" that Liverpool-linked Xabi Alonso will remain as manager beyond this season.
Alonso has emerged as one of the brightest young tacticians in Europe during his time with Leverkusen and currently has the Bundesliga leaders 10 points clear of German giants Bayern Munich having gone unbeaten all season so far.
As a result, Alonso has been touted as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield with the Bundesliga champions also reportedly considering a move when Thomas Tuchel steps down at the end of the campaign.

With both Liverpool and Bayern searching for new managers later this year, it raises the prospect of an in-demand Alonso being subjected to offers from two of the biggest clubs on the continent and Rolfes concedes he is not totally certain this won't be the manager's final term at the BayArena.
Speaking to German publication Kicker, Rolfes is quoted as saying: “You never have 100% security. If an executive wants to go to another club, what happens then?
"For example, if a Spanish club wants to sign Fernando Carro as CEO, and Carro wants to go there, then sooner or later there will be an agreement. The same would apply to the manager position.
"Of course, you have to prepare for certain scenarios. He continues to step on the gas. I still have a good feeling that [Alonso] feels comfortable here."
