Jurgen Klopp was delighted with how his Liverpool side responded in the win over Brentford after disappointing performances against Luton Town and Toulouse.

The Reds drew 1-1 away at Kenilworth Road last weekend, before falling to a 3-2 Europa League defeat in France on Thursday night. But a Mohamed Salah brace and further strike from Diogo Jota saw them bounce back in style at Anfield on Sunday as they ran out 3-0 winners against the Bees.

Leapfrogging Arsenal into second in the Premier League table in the process, the victory ensured that Liverpool would be the side closest to reigning champions Man City heading into the November international break.

And with Klopp well aware of the deadly threat Brentford posed to his side, the German was thrilled with his side’s comfortable win.

“100 percent, that is exactly (what I wanted),” he told reporters when asked how about his side’s reaction after losing to Toulouse. “Losing a game, playing not too well, makes not a lot of sense.

“It’s just when you think about the season, when you look back to other seasons, there was no season when you won all your football games. So if it happens, you have to have the right things out of it and make the right conclusion.

“I am really pleased that we used that opportunity to lose against Toulouse and then react in the way we did today. We’ll never find out but maybe if we had won against Toulouse with a fantastic performance, then we struggle today completely against Brentford. That’s absolutely possible.

“We have these struggling moments around set pieces, you cannot avoid them.
