Jurgen Klopp says he had no hesitation handing Jarell Quansah his first European start as Liverpool beat Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 in the Europa League.

Klopp insisted he had no qualms picking Quansah on a night when Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip were all on the substitutes' bench but the Reds manager also revealed the young defender will still be required to turn out for the U21s at various points across the campaign as he continues to learn his trade at the sharp end of the senior level.
“It’s part of his development," Klopp said, "If you are not ready then it’s difficult to play football, but I was not in doubt he was ready for that. It’s all because of him. It was not a difficult decision to line him up tonight, he is still young, we have a really good football team together, which means he will get minutes.
