Jurgen Klopp sent surprise Jurrien Timber transfer message after Arsenal complete £34m deal
Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch has admitted he would love Jurgen Klopp to sign Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber in the future. The Dutch midfielder completed a £34million switch to Anfield in the summer transfer window — whilst Timber joined the Gunners for a similar fee.
Gravernberch and Timber were close friends at Ajax — winning two Eredivise titles together — making the majority of their senior club appearances together. When asked which Dutch compatriot he would like to join him at Liverpool, Gravenberch only had one answer.
He told Sky Sports' Reddit AMA: «I’d go maybe for a good friend of mine, Jurrien Timber. I played my whole life with him, he’s like a brother to me so that’s why I’d choose him.»
Despite Gravenberch's claim, there is no chance that the Gunners would be willing to sell the Dutch defender any time soon. Timber impressed under Mikel Arteta in pre-season and is expected to be a key player for the Gunners when he returns from injury.
Arsenal currently find themselves joint-top of the Premier League table — along with North London rivals Tottenham. The Gunners picked up a huge three points after beating Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium prior to the international break.
Arteta has had to handle a number of injury concerns so far this season — with Bukayo Saka and William Saliba being the latest players to be hampered by problems. Saka is recovering from a hamstring issue he sustained against RC Lens, whilst Saliba's toe injury is not thought to be serious and he is likely to feature against Chelsea after the international break.
