Jurgen Klopp sends Premier League title warning to Arsenal and Man City in Liverpool goodbye
Jurgen Klopp's time at Liverpool may be coming to an end but the 2023/24 season could still be a special one for the German. The former Borussia Dortmund manager has won six trophies during his time at Anfield, including the Premier League and Champions League, and could win plenty more before his spell on Merseyside draws to a close.
Klopp, who revealed he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season in an emotional statement on Friday, has transformed the Reds since being appointed in October 2015. Perhaps unfortunate not to win more due to the sheer quality of Manchester City, Klopp will leave as a legend and in the same category as Kenny Dalglish, Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.
But his work is not yet done. And he knows it too.
Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League, five points ahead of Man City, Arsenal and Aston Villa, who all sit on 43 points. The Reds also have a Carabao Cup final against Chelsea to look forward to in February while they are still in the FA Cup and Europa League, too.
Klopp's announcement will bring sadness but that could soon turn to joy for Reds fans if Liverpool keep on winning matches. The 56-year-old is keen for that to happen and he said as much on Friday.
«The message to supporters: I really would like you to accept the decision,» Klopp said when asked what his message to the Liverpool supporters was. «That would be nice. And then if I can ask for one more thing, after telling you don’t sing my song too early, after telling you be loud in the stadium, stuff like this, if I could ask you for one more thing it would be: don’t make these games about me, because there’s no need.
