Jurrien Timber has taken a significant step in his return to action for Arsenal by partaking in some group work in training. The defender has been out with an ACL injury since his first appearance for the club in August.
The £38million summer signing was in line to be a big part of Mikel Arteta's side this season with his versatility key to the thinking behind his arrival. However, his debut lasted just 50 minutes and he hasn't featured since.
Last week, Arteta confirmed that Timber would be involved in some sort of group work. football.london understands that the 22-year-old has completed some group work with his teammates in training this week.
“I really hope so, he’s doing really well,”Arteta said when asked if Timber would be back before the end of the season. “He’s been around some players on the pitch and we are going to start to do some bits with us in the next week or so.
“Then we need to see how that evolves, his confidence levels, his fitness levels and hopefully then the answer is ‘yes’.” As promised by Arteta, he has made that step and it is a meaningful one.
In more good news, Arsenal will be hoping to welcome Gabriel Jesus back to action. The Brazilian is still nursing a knee injury that has seen him miss the last five games, although he was named on the bench for the win over Newcastle.
