Everton's punishment for breaching Premier League Financial Fair Play rules has been reduced from 10 points to six after a successful appeal process.
The club were docked 10 points in November for breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in the three-year period to 2021/22. The punishment was the biggest sporting sanction ever handed out in Premier League history, seeing Sean Dyche's men drop from 14th to 19th in the table.
Now, the reduction lifts the Blues from 17th to 15th, leaving them five points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining. The decision to reduce the punishment strengthens Everton's fight against relegation, though the second case against the club is due to be heard in the coming months.
